Sea Urchin
What are the similarities between a sea urchin and a street urchin?
One is a small creature that lives on the seabed the other is a child living on the streets. How come the same term is used to describe them?
The word originally meant “hedgehog”, you can see how that then gets to sea urchin. Was used informally in medieval times to describe people whose appearance was hedghog-like, and over time to anyone who looked rather scruffy.
